Frequently asked questions
Is Lorebench free?
Yes. Every pack is free to browse and copy, and you can use the results in your own games. The complete downloadable bundle and the offline GM Workbench app are pay-what-you-want — grab them free or tip what you like.
Can I use these names and tables in a commercial game or stream?
Yes. Use anything here freely in your campaigns, streams, and commercial game products. The only ask: don’t resell the packs themselves as a standalone product.
Is there a free random generator?
Yes — the GM Workbench deals random spreads from every pack (NPCs, towns, loot, rumors and more), lets you lock the keepers and reroll the rest. The name generator rolls fresh fantasy names on demand.
Does it work with Foundry VTT?
Yes. The GM Workbench exports any pack as a Foundry VTT roll table — in Foundry, right-click a Roll Table folder and choose Import Data.
What’s the difference between the free site and the paid bundle?
Everything works free on the site. The paid bundle is the same content as one downloadable file set (Markdown, CSV, JSON) plus the offline Workbench app and future updates — convenience and support, not a paywall.
Is the content AI-generated?
It’s generated with AI assistance and then human-checked for usability — the goal is tables you can drop straight into a session without editing.
